Advanced Library Information System (aLIS) is an Arab product. It has been designed to be compatible with the latest technology used in library fields and computer systems. aLIS is designed specially to meet the needs and requirements for the storage and retrieval of Arabic and English documents. aLIS is a simple to use , trilingual system , provides many facilities to assist performing library activities, meets Arab libraries need as searching facility with Hijri date .

1- Bibliographical data base module (cataloguing):

       To build the bibliographical data of all types of library holdings using
       MARC format. Provides the facilities of Export and Import
       bibliographical data .

    

  • Authority lists:
      To build and maintain all the lists: Authors, Subjects, Publishers,
      Series, and to be able to build the main data of the library: language,
      type of documents, format of documents, etc.
      Authority lists are automatically built and available in alphabetical
      order for the online searches.
  • Search Engine:
      To help browsing library holdings and retrieve specific items
      related to the area of interests.
      Two levels of retrieving are imbedded: Simple search and
      Compound search.

2- Serial Control module :

To control all regular and irregular issues. Automatically
listing the next expected issue, through the use of frequency
and publication pattern information contained in the holdings
record. Indexing functions for all articles in the serials are provided.
3- Circulation module:
        To support check -outs, check- ins, renewals, reservation using barcode
         system and automatic calculation of fines. Loan periods are automatically
        determined according to library-defined policies. Building the user profile
        records are included.
         
4- Acquisition module:
Manage and control annual budget, master purchase orders in all
procedures, select, receive items, and claim vendors .

5- Statistical reports:

Wide varieties of statistical and management reports are provided for
all modules. Statistical details of the collection, circulation and
acquisition are provided to control all library activities.
